Saturday, September 10, 2016. Los Angeles, CA.
In collaboration with the John Anson Ford Theatre, the Los Angeles Arts Commission, and the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, 52BLEND presents AfroLatino became a magical celebration of Afro-Latin music, dance, and cultures.
Approximately 900 people experienced a live outdoor concert with a curated line-up of amazing independent artists, dancers, and creatives.
The first half of the program paid homage to the roots of Afro-Latin music, dance, and culture that built up to the 1970's. Starting with Amalkoba, followed by Samba Soul, Very Be Careful, and Charanga Cubana.
The second half of the program focused on the evolution of the Afro-Latin culture, music, and dance by presenting, spoken word, hip hop, House Music, a pop-infused Colombian violinist, and closed it out with a carnival style samba celebration to bring it back full circle.
A 2018 presentation is in the works. For updates please follow @aftrolatinfestival on Instagram.
